2004: Neighbor's Contribution

Our neighbor, Mel, has always been an enthusiastic supporter of the wash-trails project. In September, 2004, he started work on a rather impressive sloping pathway leading to the bottom half of his property which lies right next to the green belt.

(45) ^ ^ ^ ^ He started by collecting all these rocks and sorting them into piles by size.

(46) ^ ^ ^ ^ By September 21st, the outside wall was complete.

(47) ^ ^ ^ ^ It also gave easy access to the green belt below.

(49) ^ ^ ^ ^ Work was interrupted briefly by an early-season snow storm, seen here on October 27th, 2004.

(50) ^ ^ ^ ^ By December, the pathway was almost complete (seen here covered in early morning frost).

(51) ^ ^ ^ ^ Unfortunately, a very wet snow fall on 12/28/2004 caused the collapse of this oak tree growing on the edge of the new pathway (near the top). We will certainly miss this tree.

(53) ^ ^ ^ ^ Finished. The pathway was later surfaced with wood chips.
